Soldiers arresting people is martial law. It’s law… enforced by the military…

The reason we react strongly to it is because soldiers should not be enforcing law within civilian spaces. And just naming an area a non-civilian space is just a loophole to have martial law.

Federal military enforcing federal immigration policies is not martial law.

A military performing law enforcement isn’t martial law? Please enlighten me as to how that is lol

Have the military replaced the government now?

Do you know what the F in FBI stands for by any chance?

Martial law this ain’t. By definition it isn’t even close.

The F sure as fuck doesn’t stand for Army you fucking ape.

The FBI has the authority to enforce laws passed through regular congressional channels by elected officials.

Here the commander in chief is declaring a policy and enforcing it directly with his own power. It’s the textbook definition.

Have the military replaced the government now?

That would be a military junta, not martial law.

Martial law is when soldiers, not peace officers, are tasked with upholding law and order.

It doesn’t matter if it’s for a good reason or not, it’s still martial law.

Someone needed to advocate for the freedom of the military to do whatever it wanted.

Actually, no, nobody needed to do that.

Ah, classic sophistry. If you omit the actor, you can draw a bad conclusion and pretend you didn’t know it was a bad one. But maybe I’m mistaken and you actually don’t know the answer to your question. Why don’t you read the article? It answers it.
