Please cite a source. As far as I’ve heard, despite several investigations by Congress, there has never been any evidence that Byte dance has any ties to the Chinese government. The only premise they could come up with the try to separate TikTok was that they are a Chinese company and subject to the totalitarian rule of China’s government.

The “representative of the people” is literally a board member elected by the employees of the company to represent them. An american equivalent would be if the government ordered companies of similar size to put a union rep on the board of directors of that company.
