minus-square@[email protected]cakelinkfedilinkEnglish30•2 months agoI understand it’s “wet” from some alcohol/aldehydes and not from water.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish4•edit-22 months agoI’m looking at a package of wet wipes right now and it says “99% water” on them
minus-square@[email protected]cakelinkfedilinkEnglish2•2 months agoMaybe my understanding is wrong, and I don’t use wet wipes that often, but the ones I have I bought like a year ago 60% ethanol v/v.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish2•2 months agoI see, maybe there are different types then. Mine are for an actual baby.
minus-square@[email protected]cakelinkfedilinkEnglish3•1 month agoOk, so I checked a superstore near me, and my updated understanding is anything disinfecting is alcohol based be it for skin or for for objects, things designed for cleaning skin or to be “refreshing/fragrant” are mostly water based. However there are skin cleaning products that are marketed more towards deep clean or dirt/oil/grease etc are almost always alcohol based. cleaning objects intended wet wipes also mostly alcohol based. But if marketed as “gentle” could be water based. So baby wipes being meant to clean skin and be “gentle”, it makes sense that they are water based.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish31•2 months agoWho is out there wiping their ass with %100 ethanol?
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish20•2 months agoGets it fucking clean, I’ll tell you that.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish6•2 months agoYou light the ethanol and it burns off all the shit.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish2•2 months agoChip clean room workers stealing stuff from the job rather than buy tp?
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish12•2 months agoI prefer acetone and a map-gas torch.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish2•2 months agoWould at least leave it super clean lmao
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish3•2 months agoBecause ethanol forms an azeotrope with water, 100% ethanol is also considerably more expensive than ~95% They’re definitely not gonna use 100% ethanol haha
