It looks like a regular hyperlink, you need to tap it to see the picture. For embedded pictures you leave the alt text blank. Also no you stay on the same direction as cars. The problem is this bike crossing doesn’t lead anywhere, there is no bike lane coming this direction. And you should typically ride to the right of cars but it might be ok to be on the other curb when it’s a one-way street like this.
Thanks! I moved the alt-text, hope it works now!
The bike crossing leads to a bike lane going eastbound on E Broadway, it comes from a one way street with no bike-lane. It’s on the wrong side since it’s only for bikers turning left, bikers turning right will continue on the right shoulder of the lane.
Still dumb but the only real problem I have with it is that bikes are expected to cross 6 lanes of traffic going who knows how fast with no stop light.
Edit: added a few lines to the sketch in my earlier comment to better show what I’m meaning, maybe
The part that makes me feel least safe is the brief shared space with cars going between two bike lanes. To continue along the greenway from Victoria, you need to cross and do a ~50m stretch along Broadway, cars bearing down behind you. And the right turn off is not obvious - I missed it the first time I went. It’s not at all clear where the path continues.
edit: fine, I suppose the un-controlled six-lane crossing is also pretty bad…

That’s not necessary. I usually leave it in so visually impaired people know what the image is about
