Let’s say there was a brand new Earth, uninhabited by humans, and you were to be placed in one location of your choosing. You have one backpack of survival gear. Where would you choose to be placed and why?
Oddly enough, I think I’d choose Melbourne - before the ecosystem was ruined in the 19th century it was quite a nice place to live off the land. Very productive. Good water. Lots of yam daisies and koalas to eat and fish and things. Rich in natural resources like clay and wood. Good stone for tools not far away.
Pack would have to include a puffer jacket to last until I’d eaten enough possums to make me a possum skin cloak.
Would not accept offer for today.

Bonus question: would you do it if offered today?

Picking Melbourne out of any other geographical location on earth is certainly a choice…
Somewhere tropical so I can fish and there’s no irritating pollens. I would need about a week to pack.
