It depends on the state and the bail conditions, which can be modified. Restrictions are based on priors, flight risk, violent tendency, etc.

Everyone says they are bored and want some excitement, but excitement doesn’t mean good things. More often than not, it is something bad. I’d rather have a boring day than an exciting one.

If they can convince 3 Lefty voters to vote for the minor Left party “because the major Left party isn’t Left enough,” they can win despite more people voting against them than for them. And many districts in the US (and indeed elsewhere in the world) are on such a knife-edge. If you want your particular ‘pure’ and ‘just’ Left party to have a shot, you got to change the election rules so that me voting for your guy doesn’t get the Cheeto Fascist on the other side elected.
