Meeting to decide my future with my current workplace in 12 minutes, send me loads of positive vibes! I just need to not cry!

Edit: Good news is that I still have a job. I just need to be… a little less shit at it.

Slept in today up to midway and panicked thinking it was getting late.

Wooshed myself out to get a few errands done then back home for lunch and washing just finished.

I’ll be making a coffee after hanging the clothes up and putting my feet up for the rest of the day.

    Phew. What a day already!

Already chilling. Just need to decide what to have for dinner.

Playing Just Cause 3 which I’ve never played before. It’s pretty fun just being able to wreck havok.

Going to be watching the AFL W tonight too.

Um, we’re having TWO Thursdays this week? Does that mean 2 paydays??? Please please let this be true. Or is this a fiendish plot to prevent our Friday overindulgences?

back from opshop and got a good haul of LPs. First up Yehudi Menuhin playing some beethoven

this is the same album on YT !! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjbORaxeqMQ

The Hummel record went in the bin, it is too scratched plus I hate the music.

The Melodya LP of Scheherazade by the Novosibirsk Orchestra is divine. here’s pic of the cover all in Russian

Day off work which meant errands and housekeeping.

Didn’t sit down to chill until like 2 pm with the new Star Wars Outlaws game…super fun but a tad clunky. Reminds me of the OG Watch dogs in a way.

    Overall 8/10 day

-2 points for the old lady at medical clinic that insisted she be the first in line for a blood test. I was there early…took #1 and waited patiently. She was 3rd and was adamant I should give her the first slot.

    Sorry sister. No dice.

My test took like 5 minutes tops and the nurse took me in early…so technically the old lady had hers like 5 past 9.

    Anyway… bring on the weekend!!

Alas sleep was not had - I was finally drifting off when Zooks hopped up for snuggles and Feed Me, Bitch demands.
I’m doing the zombie shuffle at the moment so I’ll just take it easy today and try and get a nap in before tonight’s social thing.

    Biscuits done.

    Tray of shortbread biscuits

The chilling time before rolling out was a bit too long I think, the dough was a bit too hard initially. The embossed roller worked fairly well, but I could probably use some practice to get it a bit more even. I also played around with a bunch of different cutters so have a variety of biscuit shapes and sizes - I’ll pick the nicest looking to take to work tomorrow and the rest will be snacks for me.

I’m also taking advantage of the oven being hot to make pizza for dinner.

Can hear all kinds of things banging and flapping in the wind. Sounds like someone’s gonna lose a bit of shed roof if this keeps up.

Bad news about the doors confirmed. They can’t temporarily install my old door handle or lock onto this new door because it doesn’t meet modern fire safety requirements. Apparently the new locks will be the same locks we had in Resi - a simple latch that can be very easily opened, and they’re going to place a metal plate over it to prevent people slipping cards or things to open the lock from the outside

I guess that’s a solution, but it feels like yet another step towards making the house feel exactly like the place I was at before. I guess on the bright side, I’m only 6 months away from turning 18. Once I do that, I can GTFO if I want, although practically I’m almost forced to stay for another 6-12 months until I can move elsewhere.

I suspect once the opportunity to book hotel rooms opens up, I’ll take a lot more spontaneous Mildura or Adelaide trips

Ikr. Apparently the requirements only apply to new installations. Interestingly though, they replaced my last deadbolt lock with the same type of deadbolt lock after the other kid had shoved a pair of scissors into my lock, and it didn’t silly then, despite the fact that that was put in the bin and replaced with a new lock

As I understand it though, the deadbolt locks aren’t the problem. The problem is that they often require a dual action (unlocking the lock then opening the door handle). Don’t ask me what they can’t just not install a door handle - they won’t elaborate. But that’s what I’ve been told

Love reading the online catalogues at SLV. The language of certain decades is so well crafted, particularly with advertising:

Melbourne and suburban hotel, guest and boarding house guide and tourist handbook. Date 1928?

The vast majority of buildings in this particular guide I’m reading seem to have been supplanted. Seems something of a shame but, equally, nothing stops progress.

The door man got back in at 8 to start sawing some wood and started ripping out the rest of the doors at 9.

We also have sparkles here now, because apparently our house has light switches on some door frames, which means old mate can’t just take a crowbar to it like he did the others, so they called sparkies to come relocate them.

Sometimes I look at the decisions these guys make and wonder why their pockets are so deep, yet they insisted on pinching every single penny when that kid moved in which blew all of this up in the first place. Certainly an expensive mistake. Expect a moderate increase in your taxes next year 😂

I ended up putting a box in front of my door so it would stop flinging open (yay uneven floors), and ended up getting a decent enough sleep. Woke up at midnight with all the wind, bloody hell it was rough, couldn’t get back to sleep for about an hour

I heard the bin man collect a bin, I sure I hope the others didn’t blow over…
