    I thought I’d seen it all…

    Vomit

The past few days have involved Melbcat being sick in all the worst places. But I just heard her gagging and saw she was doing it neatly straight into her litterbox.

What a good girl. Very considerate.

She’s had some antibiotic ear drops today that work for 2 weeks so if she has an ear infection from reacting to the augmentin hopefully she starts feeling better soon.

It is midnight and my friends just left. They were supposed to leave at 9pm but we were still watching a movie and one was eating. It didn’t feel right to kick them out.

I start work at 7am. If it isn’t the consequences of my actions.

Mik carrier plate acquired. Mik adapter plate for my little basket acquired. Mik 40l cargo crate acquired. Shraeder to presta adapter aquired so His Lordship can use all pumps. Knog alarm / tracker acquired. Bike wipes acquired. Now i have a shiny clean bike that i can clip cargo carriers in and out of with gay abandon and find wherever it may roam. And his lordship bought himself a massive fuckoff floor pump he’s already referring to as his swedish penis inflator. And I took the whole lot for a spin about and snagged some massive (65x65) cushion covers at savers for $3. W00t w00t.

Today i shall get filthy flinging dirt and exposing the last of the trenches, correct the exit, blast metal and generally be obnoxious for i am on goddamn holiday

Woke up with one eyelid very swollen 😕 I’m pretty sure it’s sunburn from yesterday… Going to be a bit embarrassing at work though. It’s like I got stung by a bee on my eyelid

That’s the first night since moving in I had the windows shut and all the blankets on. That’s one thing I miss during summer, cozy nights - but then Melbourne puts on a sudden show of cold weather to mix things up. It’s the best. (Still not planning to spend winter here next year though)

I love the variety. Day after day of hot, humid and tropical weather would drive me bonkers. I’m just not cut out for it. Kitchen hot is different though.

I grew up in a country with basically no seasons beside hot and more hot (or rain and more rain). I LOVE not being trapped in groundhog day weather-wise.

Heater on. Long cardigan on. Cosy old man slippers on (with socks). Love Melbourne weather.

Now I’m ready to ice 4 batches of gingerbread and help my kid build a gingerbread house.

Same here, it was about 11° when I got up this morning. Mr P gets the shudders if it’s cold and his joints play up.

Fourth time’s lucky - I finally sold my tent! This is the fourth offer I’ve accepted, the others all ghosted at some point between making the offer and actually picking up. This sale was true to form for sales that actually get followed through, being quick and easy. My tent is going to be heading off to Pambula for the holidays, lucky fella.

Okay, so good and bad news about my little box thing. The good is that it’s arrived at the LPO! The bad is that it’s bound for the parcel locker out the front, but they haven’t marked it as ready for collection

There’s actually 4 other things that I had to redirect to the parcel lockers that are all just sitting there but haven’t been marked ready for collection yet.

Reckon it’s worth a visit to ask if they’ve got it and just forgot to scan it in?

Don’t think they forgot to scan it.

They probably have a set time where they take all the parcel stuff to the lockers and it’s just sitting in a trolley waiting to be put in.

Also possible. Although I have had things delivered to this locker before. The most recent one was marked as arrived at facility at 8:44am, and was marked as ready for pickup from the parcel locker at 8:52am that same day, and it was a similar timeline for the rest. The fact that there’s a few others that have been sitting on ‘arrived at facility’ but not marked for pickup either inside or at the parcel locker is what made me think perhaps they forgot

Speaking of though, they just sent me a message to say that 2 of the ones that had been sitting around since Tuesday last week couldn’t be delivered to the parcel locker but can now be picked up at the LPO. I’ll ask about it then and see what they say

E: oh and this isn’t to diss the postie or post office or anything. I know it’s the very busiest time of the year for them. I’m actually thinking what may have happened with the stagnant ones is they didn’t have any room at the parcel lockers left, so put it to the side or something and it just slipped their mind or got buried or they were too busy to deal with it or something. Fair enough. I just thought they may have forgotten because I know a few times at my last LPO the postman would bring parcels back but according to the staff he didn’t scan it in properly and marked it “in transit” as opposed to “ready for collection”

I reckon it’s worth a check. They’re super busy but if they’re as nice as my post office they might have a quick hunt through the pile for you. Can’t hurt.

Thanks, I’ll ask them nicely and see what they say. I saw a postie out the front chatting to an old lady. He seemed nice enough. Hopefully representative of the staff in general at the post office

The ones at my last post office were pretty meh. There was a young bloke who was always super nice, as well as a middle aged lady who was always so snappy, and an old bloke who looked at a bit like a bogan Santa Claus and had sarcasm issues. Everything he said just HAD to be sarcastic and condescending. No bueno

It’s worth asking about the parcels you have there.

If they’re nice enough they’ll check for you and take it out for you even if it’s marked for the parcel locker.

Used to do it when I was using parcel lockers slot and they hadn’t put it in when I finished work.

Relatively severe weather down here last night. Got about 35mm.

Second time in 3 months it’s hit exactly where my place is. First one was 65mm in an hour and the gutters shat themselves. It very rarely rains like that here let alone twice like that so close together.

Will have to jump up today and do the gutters (again).

I’m just getting lots of short showers here. Absolutely perfect for the garden. I don’t have anything much get into the gutters these days, there used to be a tree against the house that would drop lots of stuff but that died a few years ago and keeping the gutters clear has been simple since then.

        Good eye! :)

Old man brought back a few 'puters from his old rooms so slowly going through all the things I need to back up. In that profession, their file management is atrocious it’s taking forever. Throwing 10 on all of them eventually. Idea is to delegate a bit of audio processing in the studio to them away from the main rig.

omg, it’s been a very strange year.

I have watched 6 hugh grant movies.

Not willingly, well it wasn’t an alex delarge sitch, but I certainly didn’t choose because he was in them, he just happened to be in them. I include wonka and paddington 2 in the list.

I’m still never going to watch any of those richard curtis movies, not ever. 🤢 The closest I got was watching that time movie, after it was over i just knew i hated it. Imagine my surprise when i saw it was a curtis movie, if I had known i would have saved myself the trauma.

This is going to be the first Christmas where I don’t go back to see my family. I’ve done it every year since moving to Melbourne but it’s harder now with the kids.

I don’t know what the other side of the family does at Christmas time, but they hardly catch up with their family otherwise so I can’t see us being too busy

I have lost the ability to dress for weather under 25C. Do I need a light cardi or a ski jacket? A summer dress? Who knows?

I’m feel like that annoying Queenslander who can’t work out Melbourne weather. Which I’m not. Just out of practice.
