I somehow managed to go to yoga with my leggings back to front and didn’t notice until I got home. Whoops.

Now that I’m home I’m going to copy you lot and jump on the jelly train. I haven’t made jelly in yonks. And then kick back with cricket all arvo.

I’m still feeling strangely unhappy, and the headache is still aching. Hopefully a sleep fixes them both unions last night

I made some jelly, been a long time since I had just jelly! It’s grape flavoured. I’ve got some strawberries 🤤 it’ll be good

With the holidays still being in full force, I think I’m just feeling kind of unfulfilled. Maybe I should go find a new hobby or project to waste time on

Hm hope you haven’t got a migraine there.

Any shoulder or neck pain or tightness? Could be tension related.

      Jelly!

Adding fruits to jelly is my favourite thing to do!

It’s mostly gone away now, although I can still feel it a little bit. I’ve never gotten migraines, so I sure hope I’m not starting now! Now that I think about it, it’s probably related to the stupid wisdom teeth

I tried some of the grape jelly, no Bueno. It was kind of bland, even with strawberries. The good news is that I bought a few packs of jelly a few weeks ago I completely forgot about. I also have watermelon and blueberry, I might try one of those over the weekend

I often find I get down in the dumps after a big milestone (like moving etc). After all the hectic movement it’s like my body has excess energy and can’t relax and can’t find anything to do with it. I am terrible at this but forcing myself to slow down in those times does help. Go for some walks, work on your sleep patterns and food. Ground with basics.

      (Just a random thought)

Got woken up by the junkies having a door slamming and screaming competition.

I’m so over this shit. 2k a month to deal with this is an absolute joke.

Yep that’s me. I was planning on staying here till I bought a place around May. But the isolation and shitty neighbours have got me running for the hills.

I was looking at that rent and trying to reply to ask how they’d got something so cheap 😢

Over $5k a month in rent here.

Edit: my reply was going to be something along the lines of “makes friends with the neighbours and have a fun time, and enjoy those prices!”

What are you renting? (If you don’t mind me askin?)

I mean I don’t have a family to support so I don’t need anything big (but my toys/hobbies would beg to differ).

Oh, reminds me of my old place! Had a very similar set up. Downsizing is super tough.

Without revealing too much, are you in a higher SE area? It still sounds like a lot?

Oh, haha, I see. (I meant higher socio-ec, but it has definitely gotten expensive.)

Were they big sharehouses? I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than $1500 give/take utilities?

I did a great job of making sure the bin was full and ready for collection, then fogot to actually take it to the curb. Now I have a bin full of such delights as chicken bones, cat litter and dog poo bags ready to marinade in the scorching heat of the weekend. 😭

On a positive note I have layer 1 of my lime and strawberry jelly jars poured and setting in the fridge.

When the man goes out to scoop the dog shit up for fun he’ll take the kitchen rubbish out with him first to put them in. Sometimes he forgets so he’ll put the scooper in the red bin. Unsuspecting me comes out, flings open the lid and cops a whiff. Kill a black dog on a rusty chain that.

Barry Lyndon is free on YouTube at the moment. I’ve watched half so far, and whilst it may not be Kubrick’s best overall work, it’s one of the most technically impressive

This is our rules. 10 cards each. If you pick up from the middle you’ve gotta pick them all up. And if you pick them up then you’ve gotta put down 4 of a kind. That’s it.

Have made it to Tokyo!! A visit to Donki and I’ve made my first Mofusand purchase of the trip and set up an in room snack bar because we are wrecked. Overnight flight with lie flat seats, but less than 3 hours sleep.

If I buy energy jelly, does that count as me joining this cool crowd?

It might have been good to grow more crops that don’t require cooking, for people who might not have access to proper kitchens and would prefer to eat the veg fresh. Standard size tomatoes and cucumbers, carrots, that kind of thing. I wonder if it’s too late for sowing cucumbers.

I wish I had more space and strength to garden…

    spoiler

The two tiny patches of soil in my own back yard are choked with runners of tough invasive grass that creeped in under the fence from a neighbour, and I don’t have the physical strength to dig it out and put a cement barrier to block it from returning. Especially as it grew through weed mat which would complicate removal. Maybe I should leave it though and keep it long as a home for bugs.

I was thinking of trying to improve the dry sandy neglected spot for actual growing when the disposable non-native annual flowers die.

As for prep I know sunflowers leach heavy metals out of soil, might break it up with deep tap roots, and beans enrich the soil with the nitrogen fixing bacteria in nodules on their roots. There are green manure crops you dig back in. Compost bins can be made cheaply (though I’d have to buy a drill.)

But it’s got a rock hard sandy layer a hands width down that I might not be able to break through to dig it over. Green manure seeds might not be able to stay moist enough to sprout. And even with wetting agents, organic matter, nitrogenous crops etc it’s still much more publicly accessible ie vulnerable to vandalism and choked with greedy invasive tree roots.

Plus going out there to tend it puts me in proximity to crazies.

I just want to be allowed to mind my own fucking business and do my constructive hobby man… 😒

      weed mat

I found the one I got a few years ago (plastic thing) just to try out didn’t work very well and had the same problem. Sort of made it harder when things grew through it.

I feel you with the grass though. It’s an uphill battle :(

Yeah, just grew right through! Removal likely isn’t going to happen, I don’t have the physical energy to spare.

I’m just going to have to leave it as shelter for the bugs and trim it down a bit when it gets out of control

You have nothing to lose by trying, well barring a bit of time watering.

Just so you know I’ve got some brand new tomato plants on the go from seeds and they’re loving it, very late start for those. With the weather how it has been this season I’d predict that that the fruiting period will be into late May. I’d hope cucumbers would be the same with ample regular watering.

Ahhh i love the sound of junkies screaming all day. Probation ends on the 23rd of Jan. I’ll be gone within 2 weeks of that date.
