I just saw a Reddit thread about why people don’t drink alcohol. I don’t drink super often but

reasons why I should be sober indefinitely
    • I have social anxiety and drinking is taking the easy way out by reducing the tension that automatically happens in social situations. I feel like my body loosens up and I can actually move and dance when I’m intoxicated. It’s weird.
    • the buzz is superficial. It’s not a deep, fulfilling kind of contentment, it’s just a mask
    • physical symptoms, like insomnia
    • alcohol doesn’t taste good
    • and it’s expensive
    • plus the body doesn’t like it
    • with each drink, I have less control over my ability to say no to the next
    • my most embarrassing moments have happened under the influence of alcohol
    • grandfather was addicted to alcohol and smoking, and I don’t want to turn out like that. His son, my dad, drinks wine everyday, and he becomes a bit of an idiot. I think this has to do with self-medicating because undiagnosed ADHD.

I’m going to download one of those sober apps, and use it as a conversation starter with new people, where drinking is involved. I think having a sense of achievement is one way to feel fulfilled in life, and this can be a little win.

    End rant.

Hard to choose the sunset swim pic but we’re going with this:

Also met the most ridiculously tiny toy doggo who just ran up to say hello. Would’ve been no taller than my ankle. Fearless.

Double update: I got distracted from my schoolwork to admire how good the Bitter Sweet Symphony is. Everytime it pops up in my shuffle, I feel compelled to stop and actively listen to it

There’s plenty of songs I like more, but I honestly think I would rank The Bitter Sweet Symphony as the best song of all time

(I had a chat with my teacher, she’s not fussed if I’m a day late with my work, so I’m damn well going to silently sing the song damn it!)

Yep! That’s the exact reason I vehemently opposed the rolling stones! I have some quite strong words about them, but I should probably not go there. Such a ridiculous lawsuit

I believe they got revenue back again in 2019 (?) which was also coincidentally the year I found out what it was called and added it to my playlist! Obvy I knew the song, just not what it was called

One of the boys had a croaky voice and now I’m feeling it too. Time to see how flexible the new job is with being in the office, lest they want everyone else to get sick too

Some shitty news at work this morning. A couple of vacated senior positions will not be back filled. That’s a few opportunities we won’t be getting. Time to start looking elsewhere methinks.

I’ve got a contract until end of this year. It being public service, the job is all but guaranteed until then. Looking at other departments now, cause I want to keep my entitlements at least, but could go private if necessary.

I’m fortunate enough to have a decent amount of time to make that decision, others don’t have that luxury.

Apparently my phone came off the charger again last night :/

I think I’m moving it in my sleep

E: 1 minute after I hopped in the shower, I had a delivery which needed a signature. I didn’t even hear them knock (but they did according to my camera). And the drawstring on my shorts got tangled in the washing machine, so one of them is now stuck inside while the other one has knotted itself

I reckon today’s a write off, and would love to just get back into bed and try again tomorrow. But unfortunately commitments demand that I do not do such things. Gonna have a tough time trying to muster up the will to go about life today though

Washing machine sorted. A leaky hose. Now I have 4 weeks worth of washing to do. Me happy.

Well. Undies were the last things that I washed and sometimes I didn’t even bother to put some on after showering. It’s good to let bits breathe occasionally.

        Ditto

I can last 5 days without washing, but I wash everything after each use, regardless of dirt levels (I’m a very sweaty person). I could make it 7 comfortably reusing things as necessary. Although opposite to you, I’ve actually got about 3 weeks worth of socks, and would be okay reusing them once most of the time

    My work forecast today:

Pictures not of my actual work, as I’m still on a bus crawling along a busy road!

I’m back. Spent Friday in hospital with some pretty sketch vitals but they gave me an IV and I appear to be alive again. Viral meningitis is the leading theory, we couldn’t actually diagnose it and given I’m no longer looking like the reapers next target no one is all that stressed any more.
