I love the unisex bathrooms at the Kansas City airport!
Floor to ceiling stalls that I don’t have to dance around in to open and close the doors. Large open spaces to move between stalls and the sinks.
Sure, the open stall count and lights aren’t reliable and the workmanship on the sinks and soap dispensers is pretty crummy, but the layout and convenience are fantastic!
I hadn’t considered how much space you can save, how much better you can plan for traffic, by not having 2 separate areas.
Not to mention balancing the demand, more toilets instead of urinals, and more privacy.
Not to mention that they are inclusive just by their design.
And it’s not like there are only unisex bathrooms there. It’s easy to choose another one if you prefer.
But why bother. They’re more private than most other public bathrooms in the US. 🤷🏻♀️
I fly through KC often and the gender neutral bathrooms are right past security, so I go in there nearly every time to at least wash my hands. There used to be a tiny jolt of surprise when I saw a man in there just because I’ve been so conditioned against seeing that for over 30 years, but that’s gone away because why tf do I care who sees me wash my hands?!
“Outside” is the original unisex bathroom
“I’d rather publicly expose myself in the public parking lot than allow people to mind their own business. It’s those evil wokists that are the real problem and exposing their genitals to kids”.
I have gender-neutral toilets in my house, so do all my friends
In fact, every household I’ve been in had gender-neutral toilets
They worked out fine
I’ve had creepy guys stare at my dick in men-only toilets, I’ve never had a problem with it in gender-neutral
It stands to reason that the problem is segregated toilets
(actually, it’s men, but I’m sure even here there will be the “nOt AlL mEn!” types)
There really isn’t a problem at all. Just wash your hands after.
Can we just get a bathroom design where they are a wall of stalls with a urinal and toilet inside and the hand washing station is on the outside without a door blocking the path? I hate bathroom doors after washing hands, especially when they don’t have a way to open the doors without touching the handle. Just put the sinks outside the bathroom.
No one needs urinals.
Case in point: No one has one in their home.
Home bathrooms are single-occupancy, plus most people don’t have the room. They’re definitely beneficial for higher volume places as add much more capacity for less space, and act as an “express lane” of sorts.
There are people with urinals in their home though, although they are rare.
That’s a bad argument. How many people have hundreds, maybe thousands of people using their toilet every hour? Urinals are made for high traffic areas, where large numbers of men need to pee, and they also save water by not needing to be flushed every time.
Ah but the toilet sitters do appreciate how much less urine is on the seats and around the bowl. I would have a urinal in my home if I was to remodel my bathroom. They are convenient.
If you splash urine all over the place when peeing you’re sitting wrong.
You can also just sit to pee, so that there’s less urine on the seats and around the bowl. No need for a urinal, which also has splash back.
I have been to places with this layout.
Private stalls. Sinks and hand washing open and visible to the hallway. Nobody feels threatrned or uncomfortable.
Nobody feels threatrned or uncomfortable
And that makes conservatives feel threatened and uncomfortable.
Airports are infrastructure buildings. This is like seeing a billboard telling you not to hatecrime gay people and boycotting the highway.
Wait, gay people are allowed to use highways? Next you’ll be saying gay trash is mixed with my trash in the truck. My pearls have been clutched so hard they’re powder.
Family bathrooms are also great. Once flew with my intellectually disabled sister who fucking fingerpainted a rest stop stall on a previous trip when my mother broke her arm chasing her to the bathroom and she was left to her own devices. This time I brought gloves and wet wipes and there was a little suite kinda thing. I didn’t need the child size toilet or the breastfeeding couch but the nice big accessible area around the adult toilet was good to have. She wasn’t constipated that time so I didn’t have to stop her from digging it out manually again but man; if I’d had to I totally could’ve! 10/10 would use a family bathroom again.
Disabled bathrooms are also spacious, to allow wheelchair users easy access.
Why are americans so obsessed with toilets? Do they start the potty-training too early or too late?
Most people don’t give a shit. Literally or figuratively.
30% of America represents the majority. Out of that 30%, most are just going along with whatever because they’re dumb and watch media that validates their fears but if the story changed tomorrow they would let it go.
The remaining sliver of this group are the true fucking nutcases who post this kind of stuff like in OP’s image because they really do believe it. Because they are dumber than shit, they don’t think with language, they react to feelings and let their autopilot fill in the blanks and appear functional in society.
They are the absolute loudest and most energetic of every segment, and as such they get seen the most and influence the most people.
This is a broken system and we need help.
I would love to go back to not giving a shit but people can’t just mind their own fucking business so I keep getting into arguments about why does it matter if a trans person uses the bathroom they want to. Just leave people alone so they can shit in peace.
My only issue is when there are showers involved. But even then, homosexual people exist, so even that isn’t a hill I’m willing to die on.
Yeah if that is your hill you should be arguing for shower stalls anyway. Like you said nothing stopping anyone from perving in there as it is. Gender has nothing to do with it.
It’s entirely a modern, “developed” world phenomenon where everything in the world is sexualized to the point that you can’t use the bathroom or shower around other people without feeling weird. That weird feeling is real, and you can’t just hand-wave it away, but it’s socially constructed. I think we should all remember that. There are currently and have been many times and places where people just don’t care nearly as much about each other’s bodies or being seen by others.
When you really think about it, it’s absolutely crazy. We have been wearing clothing for less than the last 100,000 years or so. A blink of an eye evolutionarily. And that was just cold environments. Before that, we had a 4.1-billion year unbroken chain of successful life that as far as we know, never wore clothes or felt shame going to the bathroom.
Nudist spaces (for example sauna) are relatively common in some parts of Europe. I don’t think it’s necessarily a western thing.
I started to type “western” and then used the word “developed” nation instead, and even then I realize that’s not entirely accurate. Places like Japan and New Zealand have public baths, often with little or no real separation between genders. There’s a famous pic out there of a yakuza woman bathing with her male compatriots. They have a stronger stigma about tattoos than boobs.
Conservatives would absolutely explosively shit themselves if they visited a bathing area in New Zealand, or for that matter any of the many, many nudist communities in the US. You know, those places where we hear about horrible sex crimes that happen every day?
Wait, I’m being told that’s actually churches where the horrible sex crimes happen. Churches where people wear clothes.
I fucking swear, the same people who scream about bathroom “safety” are the same people who think all men are rapists if they so much as see a woman’s ankle and blame victims of assault for what they were wearing.
Yeah, it’s certainly irrational, but as you said, it’s very real. I don’t want people of the opposite sex looking at me naked (or even the same sex, but that’s less bad), and I’m sure they feel the same about me.
To me that sounds quite sad. Non sexual nudity is a unique experience it’s unfortunate that many will never be able to enjoy it or disassociate it from sexuality.
In Germany there are big and accepted nudist spaces. It was also quite the cool experience meeting strangers in a public sauna in Finland. It was such a peaceful environment, as everyone was literally exposing themselves and showing a certain vulnerability that we do not encounter otherwise.
Yeah, I’ve been to a public bath in E. Asia and, while it was uncomfortable for me (very different from my culture), it was fine. But I bet most people from my region wouldn’t even consider going.
It’s not all Americans, just one specific political party that happens to have gone completely batshit crazy.
It’s not even the majority of that party, it’s a very vocal minority.
The GoP needed a cultural political weapon. So they picked the weakest minority, gays and trans people. To use as a distractions, while they rob the public and destroy the country.
Someone’s comment that I read elsewhere pointed out to me that this is a similar tactic that was used back in the day with white only bathrooms and non-white bathrooms.
History doesn’t repeat but it rhymes.
The GQP sees the world in very black and white boxes, if you don’t fit in one of those boxes, then you don’t count.
They create black and white boxes for express the purpose of having people that don’t fit.
I know that the GoP politize the weird toilet obsession to use as a wedge (as they do with pretty much everything), but it feels like it has been a thing for much longer than that.
If you know which set of genitals the person in the stall next to you has, you either voluntarily got in the glory-hole stall, or you’ve majorly invaded thier privacy.
Culture war has been their go to strategy since at least the Nixon administration.
I’m sure all the gender stuff is fueled by the right, but what about that huge gap in the door where you can look people in the eyes as they shit?
Or the water level?
toilet stalls with large gaps is a financial decision. the gaps mean that the construction tolerances are more forgiving. they can be installed anywhere without much hassle. which reduces cost
Prolonged eye contact
This isn’t about trans people specifically, but the very existence of gendered bathrooms dates back to hilariously sexist 1800s ideas about how men and women should only be allowed to coexist at home. No surprise that religious fundamentalists continue to weaponize private spaces against anyone that doesn’t fit their norms.
I was thinking about the very same thing yesterday and decided that men wanted to show their wieners to other men but not to women. I couldn’t find any other reason for gendered toilets😅
At least the US doesn’t charge money (in general) to use toilets. I found that to be far more disruptive.
Fellas, is it gay to use a gender-neuttal bathtroom?
I welcome unisex bathrooms but that’s kind of a false comparison. Airplane bathrooms aren’t communal, only one person can use the room at a time
How do you define “communal”? In Europe it’s common to have fully enclosed “stalls” (basically rooms in themselves) - either with their own sinks or the sinks are indeed outside and shared by all.
I looked up pictures of this airport’s bathrooms and it’s a standard shared sink counter situation. The toilets are, of course, private.
What you described exists here as well but I’ve never seen it in an airport
In NA the stalls tend to be open above and below, never mind urinals which are just out in the open maybe with small “blinders” in between if you’re lucky. Personally, I don’t care, but I could see people being more shy in that situation.
In bars/clubs I imagine there’d be an issue of more people taking up stalls to hook up since you wouldn’t need to be sneaky about entering/leaving the washroom any more, but maybe that’s just trashy behavior that can’t be helped anyways.
When “traditionally-gendered” bathrooms are converted to unisex, they don’t just change the sign on the door. The bathrooms get redesigned entirely. Every multi-stall unisex bathroom I’ve seen is similar to what troad described above - floor-to-ceiling length stall doors, with a communal sink area. I’ve never left North America.
TBH, sometimes they do just change the sign. You’ll have “all-gender (with urinals)” and “all-gender (no urinals)”. I saw that at an older theater in Western Massachusetts.
It probably has to do with budget and clientele. This theater’s audience skewed 20ish at the show I was at.
Can someone explain what this title is supposed to mean?
The implication is that the complainant is in an airport, and airports use PA announcements for things - in this case, trying to get some logic to the complainant so they understand that the airplane bathrooms are also ‘all gender’ and their complaint isn’t logical
Is the parking lot gendered?
The windows taskbar at the bottom
Not just any windows: ✨ vista ✨ 😂
Thats Win 10, I’m almost certain. Vista you would see the orb being taller than the taskbar, and there wouldnt be a square “notifications” box like there is on 10 at the far end.
- signed, Aero’s biggest warrior
The start button is a circle though, its square in 10, I think we must both be wrong and it’s either 7 or 8
I went and found the original image, it is without a doubt Win10.

Oh I see, it was just jpeg artifacts around the start button that made it look colourful and rounded 😅
Also Vista didn’t have the smaller icons in the taskbar instead it was still the full name/title of the program afaik, that was new with 8/10
It’s future-proof since it can be updated every legislative cycle.

Bears shit in woods, but only female bears.
Male bears shit in outhouses that are technically for both, but the women would rather shit in woods.
Man, this thread is going deep.
because women would rather encounter a male bear shitting in the woods?
Wait, is the man vs. bear question not about a female bear? How are make bears okay?
Male bears are not okay! A female bear will just kill you and eat you. A male bear will make you steal pic-a-nic baskets. Then it’ll kill you and eat you.
Just the one with the scat fetish is having the time of his life
She’s okay with her bathroom being for men and women. What she really means is she doesn’t want trans people to use the same bathroom, and she would not invite trans people into her home. But don’t worry, no trans people want to be in her home, either.
All genders can pee in the parking lot
