Looks like Yarrabyte has got the lurgi. Get well soon Yarrabyte!
Just got home from work. EOFY sucks the big one. Kill me now. (after I’ve had this glass of wine that magically leapt out of the fridge and into my hand) Really should eat something. Later.
Ha. Cartoon characters are very satisfying to draw and colour.
Oh wow!
This is brilliant!!
I stopped on the way home and got some Maccas for dinner, ordered chicken nuggets so they would be easy to eat while driving. I received chicken wings instead, which failed the easy to eat test but were very tasty. I’m not sure how the staff in those places can handle busy periods, it was absolute chaos in the kitchen there.
I also got some petrol - drove in the wrong side of the pump on autopilot, but remembered before I got out and did a loop around to the right side.
The pets are very glad I am home (and that they finally got dinner). I put away the frozen stuff I brought up, and Miss Meow took the opportunity to explore the garage and van a bit while I had the door open. I also put out the bins, the new pet fencing I put up worked well - I can reach the bins easily over the fence, and don’t have to worry about Mr Woof while I have the side gate open putting them out.
Are wings more expensive than nuggets? If so that’s a win!
How are miss meow and mr woof going at the new place?
My resignation has been officially announced, so now it’s real. My manager has checked if I’m still comfortable with the decision and it’s a resounding hell yes.
Now I just need to somehow stay awake after a lunch wrap that turned out way too greasy and heavy.
Congrats!
Today I visited the centrelink office for the first time in 18 years. I walked in and froze. It’s changed so much and it’s quiet which was a contrast to the last time when some cunt was having a melt down, throwing chairs and punches and the cops were called.
I think they prefer us to do everything on line now
medicare is the same, they do not like walk ins
Yeah. I did everything online but I had to go in to show ID.
you have my sympathies
I’ve rarely had a good experience with gov admin the past few years
I’ve never had a problem with them but I’m not a frequent flyer.
Instantly thought of the old centrelink in fitzroy
It was meltdowns and yelling or people crying back in the day at my local one
Yes! I remember it as a combo of an airport waiting lounge and a rough pub.
trying to eat a tuna sammich. The kittens are massing. They have taken the kitchen and the hallway. I have barred my office, but cannot hold them for long. The paws scritch at the wood…mews. mews in the hall. I cannot get out. I gobble mouthful after mouthful until my chest chokes with bread. A bell rings behind me…I cannot get out…They are coming.
Light the beacons and Rohan will answer!!!
This is why you always have an extra tin for them
🤣
1 more sleep until I can set up the drum kit. Come onnnnnnnnnn
yayyyyy 🙂
Finally feeling human enough to try one of the new toys I got before The Crud hit. Very much room for improvement, but I think we shall be friends.
They look awesome.
My pic of the bunch would be the ones with strawberry jam.
Thanks. It’s melted smashed up boilt lolly. Which turn out to be a bit hard to find
Try Preston Market. The out of date/out of stock re-sellers sometimes have bags of boiled lollies that are perfect for stained glass bikkies.
EDIT: or make your own. Boiled lollies are just sugar and water boiled to hard crack stage, then coloured and set. I cup of sugar+1/4 cup of water is a good base mix. Boil up to hard crack stage, then dip out a half ladleful, add food colouring to suit, stir with fork and pour onto a tray lined with baking paper to set. Dip out some more, colour etc until you have all the colours you need. I recommend banishing all pets, kids and spouses from the kitchen until you’ve finished. Hot sugar is nasty when juggling priorities.
And the final result is easily storable in airtight jars/bags for future use. And you’re going to smash it up anyway so if bits stick to each other that’s fine.
Yeah hot toffee is nasty stuff! Not sure I can be bothered. The sugar is cheap but if you want a bunch of different flavours the effort and price goes up quickly
TIL stained glass bikkies exist. 😊
Yep. Used to do them for putting round the sides of birthday cakes for the boys. In football team colours. And to satisfy my bloke’s toffee addiction. Very fun and very pretty. They look lovely as christmas tree decorations.
Woolies used to have own brand boiled lollies but they’re gone now. Some locations have swanky kinds in jars but too expensive for cooking with
rawr
Had a bit of a snack and a glass or two of water.
Feeling. A little bit better now.
Need to keep drinking water just incase I’ve got something to flush it out and I need plenty of rest.
How much bacon it took much bacon if adding to a bolognaise sauce that will contain chicken?
I reckon a small amount of bacon just to add a bit of depth to the flavour. I wouldn’t fry it too much beforehand, just a little. A chicken based Bol can be a bit meh (or some I’ve had were), so adding just a little bacon or something cured and strong tasting is a good choice. Maybe I’m just biased because I love the richness of beef.
I don’t know, but 85 Italian Nonnas just fainted
It’s blasphemy
Bacon no no?
My understanding is anything other than pork & veal mince is NO. I do all Sorts of things to meaty pasta sauce (including grated carrot) but I don’t call it Bolognese
Guess I’ll find out to my own detriment.
Yes
As much as you like.
ham is fine, but bacon?
chicken?
( it’s in my traditional italain cookbook )
Well let’s just say I’m using what I have at the moment.
And old boss messaged me with a link to a a position he’s advertising. Same salary as I am on 2 year contract vs 3 years that I’m on right now.
I’m not a huge fan of the new workplace, but cannot imagine working for him again. Top bloke, great for a chat and a beer, but absolutely shocking manager.
My message will be as follows ‘Thanks for thinking of me with this role, however I’m enjoying this new job and want to see how it pans out. Maybe in another year or so’.
I have an afternoon appointment so I bravely decided to try and work on my slides from home.
This is how that’s going…
Time to wear a hoodie backwards.
Gorgeous little princess. Melbcat is a bit heavy for me to do this but maybe next time an improvised baby wrap might hold Sox close and stop the headbonking of your hands
Aww. Le purr
I got about 60% done before it was time to go and that involved regretfully relocating the cat about 10 times in half an hour. I wish I could tell her I love the attention, just not right now!
I will try and finish the rest when I get back and then watch something on my laptop so she can nestle on me at length.
Don’t you feel so mean for moving them?!
My heart broke every time. I am so sorry sox, I wish I was done with this effing project before you had to go so I could have a guilt-free lazy weekend with you
What an absolute cutie!
Oh dear, I can see productivity levels dropping to an all time low.
It’s been two hours and I’ve only just started doing anything relevant. Meanwhile she is constantly headbonking my hands when I try to type. And curling herself up into a different but equally comfy position every 10 minutes. I walked into this…
Thankfully ol’ girl’s op went mainly well yesterday. Hopefully moving out of ICU back into the ward today or tm. Knew it was somewhat major surgery but not really ICU.
Probs going into care/rehab afterards for a bit which will piss her off. With any luck might be able to bring her in some proper soup in a week or 2.
So bit of a waiting game to see what recovery is like and go from there.
I’m glad to hear it went well mate ❤️
Good luck to your mum!
Glad to hear it went well, I imagine the recovery will be tough on all of you!
so many hugs , I hope she gets better very soon
All the best to your mum - I hope she has a speedy recovery
No, brain, you do not need to investigate whether computers still need disk defragmentation…
SSDs - no. Standard hard drives depends. IIRC (from when this thought struck me and I could not resist the rabbit hole) Linux ext type file system doesn’t really need it and Mac/windows do it automatically. So unless your disk is nearly full and / or you are doing something weird it is a thing of the past…
Such a lovely thing though…all those bits sorting themselves out…
I used to love watching the graphic as all the bits moved along, and then happiness if the computer worked better afterwards
yup 🙂
I like to play the same music when I do particular art or study. It puts me in the frame of mind I want.
I listen to Morricone when I do chinese calligraphy. Interstellar is going to be my new computer studies music.
