Mine are The UrQuan Masters and Mass Effect (the original trilogy anyway) Havent played Starfield yet so wondering if that will measure up.
So whats yours?
Spaceteam has to be the most realistic star trek simulator, right??
Those are both good choices. Personally I have a huge soft spot for the old escape velocity games.
Keep an eye on Cosmic Frontier: Override. It’s a new game that’s been in development from the team that brought us the Escape Velocity series :)
Thanks! I will definitely want to pick that up
In addition to the other suggestions, check out Space RPG 3 and Space RPG 4 for Android (unsure of IOS). Great spiritual successors I recently put hundreds of hours into. Space RPG 3 is now free. 4 is $2.50 IIRC.
You might appreciate Endless Sky then! https://store.steampowered.com/app/404410/Endless_Sky/
Thanks! I’ve put a couple hours into it. It’s not as polished as Nova was, but it sure does scratch that itch.
Star Fleet Academy (I know you said like but still)
I need to play that eventually
Star Trek Voyager Elite Force.
I mean Mass Effect is cool and all, but Star Trek is Star Trek.
Okay, maybe Freelancer or DarkStar if you replace humans with aliens and headcanon them being some species from another quadrant.
I loved Elite Force back in the day, the aesthetics were spot on, from locations to weapons to enemies. Really felt like Star Trek. Fighting the Borg was as obnoxious as in the show too!
FTL
Especially with some of the star trek mods
Mass Effect is pretty top tier for me too. I know you said Trek-like but Star Trek Bridge Crew is a ton of fun. Or at least it was. Number of players has ramped down significantly after Ubisoft dropped support.
Ever play Star Trek Online?
I have a bit, it started off really nicely and then, for me, nosedived into ridiculous chaos and dull grinding. Neither of which felt anything like what I hoped from a Star Trek game.
Ive heard that from everyone I asked about STO, so I’ve never even tried it
Yeah, I really really wanted to like it, but it was so bad I’m still salty about it … mostly because of wasted potential
They’re right. I play it because I like flying around in my Crossfield but the game is a super grind. Story stuff is fun though.
Artemis is fun. Get a bunch of nerds in a room, do star strek stuff. There’s a bunch of Artemis knock offs but I don’t know that any have really beat the OG.
Birth of the Federation and the fan remake star trek supremacy.
I’m surprised that no one’s mentioned NMS.
Yeah, I’m almost 200 hundred hours in to nms. It’s more than double the time I have in any other game
If that means No Mans Sky, I have it on the Switch but haven’t cracked it yet
Check it out, it’s really good now!
Yeah everyone tells me the Switch version is awesome
I mean I was into the old test-based Trek game for a while.
*Menos Effect
I’d have to go with Stellaris, either the base game or any of the Star Trek mods, it’s got it all space battles, diplomacy, Galaxy wide Geo politics, Even doing research based on observing primitive cultures, highly recommended.
Thx :)
I never got into Stellaris, but I saw that they have a Star Trek offshoot releasing next month.
