You know the US’s policy on climate change? It’s based on science denial and therefore incoherent, so it ends up being whatever’s expedient. It’ll be like that. Reality will be whatever is convenient for the administration.

One thing I’m convinced of is that the blackout was not the result of some technical requirement such as people’s speculation that it was for an algorithm change or to switch over to meta’s servers. It was either a messy result of their compliance department playing it safe or it was a political stunt. Likely a bit of both given how much money it must have cost. Regardless of what you believe about TikTok’s “true” nature, they’re playing ball with the Trump administration.
The narrative about TikTok being Trump’s propaganda wing may just be the newest tactic to paint leftists as fascists, though. Always be critical when legacy media is in lockstep.
Edit: wait it’s because Elon is an immigration enjoyer? What a freak Bannon is
Nah because you can say “let’s go Brandon” in church and God won’t know the difference because he’s stupid
BBILBO BBAGGINS
And being unionized doesn’t make you magically have higher wages, but they’re still highly correlated
Are there any concerns about committing the SQLite db files into git? Won’t using git to back those up regularly eventually make the repository history extremely large?
Did the Pret a Manger have free bananas?
How will I ever decide whether or not to make this tradeoff???
Any idea what people would be interested in?
This couldn’t have come at a more relevant time for me. I just set up a Mineclonia world on a fresh server yesterday. My kids are loving it.
I’ve introduced my coworkers to the concept of the “copilot pause” where you stop typing and your brain turns off while you wait for copilot to make a suggestion. Several of them can’t unsee it now and have stopped using copilot.
I’m personally very conflicted between my love of computers and the seeming necessity of conflict minerals in their construction. How much coltan is dug up every year just to be shoved into an IoT device whose company will be defunct in six months, effectively bricking the thing? Even if the mining practices were made humane, they wouldn’t be sustainable. My coworkers are very cool for tech workers. Vague anticapitalist sentiments. Hate Elon. But I don’t think they’re ready for this conversation.
I think this would be simple ActivityPub-wise, but would be more complicated in terms of moderation and would involve some non-arbitrary decisions.
How many doctors will Trump have to jail before most fall in line?
