  • This is mainly a FF focused comment. I might come back later and ramble about other franchises though.

A lot of JRPG franchises generally only have themes in common. So you can play Final Fantasy 6, 7, 10, 11 or 15 and have a self contained story. I donno if it’s been confirmed by Square but I do subscribe to the theory that Final Fantasy Tactics and 12 take place on the same continent, just a few hundred years apart. But even then, both titles are standalone and have nothing in common other than the same Ivalice.

There are a few franchises that have continuity like Breath of Fire(iirc) and XenoSaga.

As for where to start with Final Fantasy, 6 is a really good standout retro one, 7 is always a favorite, and so is 10. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those. If you really like politics in games, 12 has all that and more. It’s my favorite of the bunch but that makes me an outlier. I also don’t recommend starting with it because it’s a huge deviation from the main game mechanics.

  • I was part of the reddit exodus over the 3rd party app bullshit. I saw a post from one of the bigger servers bitching about how you shouldn’t join lemmygrad or Hexbear because they are full of tankies so I made a Lemmygrad account. After Hexbear refederated I added a few of their comms and realized I jive more with their community than with Lemmygrad so I made a HB account and added a bunch of my old Lemmygrad comms to that.

I wish the hobby comms were more active. That’s really the only reason I still have my reddit account.

  • I have ASD so once I get into that hyperfocus flowstate, and get pulled out of it, it’s like everything around me just shatters lol. My partner and oldest kid have ADHD so when either or both are around I mostly don’t even bother with code. I was able to get a tiny bit of stuff done this morning but it was mostly stuff I have on mental autopilot like git stuff.

  • I’ve lost my shit with people over this lol. Just sucks when you are like 3 hours in on something and then someone just comes along and makes small talk.

I was fired from my last job because I was expected to write features AND do helpdesk support at the same time and just no… I was also fired because I suck at programming but still…

    1. Mostly movies from yts . mx, and movies and tv shows from watchsomuch . to.
    2. Mostly for convenience and I think information should be free. I cam back to the high seas after they decided to have 4,758 different streaming services and kind of hate exclusive as an excuse to get you to pay for one service over another.
    3. I have a dedicated 6TB hard drive(wish I would have paid a bit extra for an 8 or 10 though). I also used it for rsync back ups but that’s it.
    4. I switch back and forth between Jellyfin and Plex. Jellyfin is a bit fiddly but open, Plex “just work” but is closed source. I try to use free software as much as I can.
    5. Both JF and Plex will keep track, but I’ve had issues with JF if a movie or show doesn’t want to run(I think it’s a transcoding issue) sometimes I lose progress of my most recent watched stuff. Kind of sucks. I’ve had more issues with JF than with Plex which sucks.
