If the price of building socialism is having to pretend to like sports for the rest of my life then I’ll just have to resign myself to capitalist hellworld

a lot of people are more socially inept than you think and don’t have many conversation starters

THE GAME being the patriarchy approved “normal” topic that ALL MALES MUST be able to have a conversation about in order to be socially acceptable is toxic as fuck. The way your turning it around to say poor smol bean hegemonic culture enjoyers don’t know what else to talk about is kind of true, but that doesn’t make it any better. If anything its another example of how patriarchy hurts men as much as women.

Just to be clear, the problem isn’t sports but patriarchy. This may be less of an issue outside the US. Hopefully its not as bad in the US as was, but i doubt it

People do talk about sports - and that’s fine! I don’t hate sports or have a problem with people watching sports or talking about sports.

I’ve been pretty clear about what i have a problem with. It’s when someone says “i don’t watch sports” and that’s a problem because it isnt considered the approved and acceptable answer to that question

“I don’t watch sports” means you view not watching sports as part of your identity. The person you’re talking to clearly enjoys sports, and you’re stating that some core aspect of the way you think of yourself is just against sharing that with them. Generally when I talk to people I stay open to their hobbies even if I’m not into those hobbies at that time.

I’ve been here since the “do you want to fuck the bunny cop” days but anyway there are other ways to say that, like “I haven’t gotten into that sport yet, what’s the deal” or literally any other phrase that doesn’t murder the conversation on the spot

I mean, that would be an extremely maladjusted behavior on the coworker’s part. It’s not like I write off the possibility of befriending or even talking to someone because they don’t consume my slop.
