Not been feeling too well lately, resting and watching old stuff.

Shows like Extreme Cheapskates are just fake rage bait. Yeah, a woman with a full face of makeup, false lashes and an entire set of false nails is so frugal she uses dryer lint for makeup removal. She drives an SUV to the supermarket to beg for meat scraps. Pull the other one!

I hope that episode of Adults Adopting Adults was faker than it looked though. I’m aware that these shows are very scripted and heavily edited but Danny was seriously concerning. I actually feel like that situation was one of the rare ones the camera didn’t overplay.

Extreme Cheapskates makes me feel yucky inside. I watched one where this dude teaches people how to cook gourmet on a budget but he didn’t tell them until after that he’d foraged herbs from the side of the road, dumpster dived the local seafood joint for scraps of lobster tails and picked out half drunk bottles of wine from the bins at the beach and filtered them through his homemade goon bag.

Rage bait is why. Show runners coach them to do or say bizarre controversial things.

Very much on brand for exploitative reality tv especially in the 2000s

Ah ha. The foraging, well fine ok but the dreg collecting and then pouring them into what looked like a colostomy bag was an eye opener.

Extreme Cheapskates isn’t a show I watch but for some reason I have seen that one, maybe on YouTube? Her man has some people round to watch the game and she makes a hideous lasagna from boiled fat water or something, is that the one?
