Anyone want an overbearing 7kg cat that refuses to listen, insists on licking your face while clawing your neck, flicks kitty litter everywhere, opens every cupboard that he can, must be involved in everything and is currently nuzzled my fingers while I try to type? Anyone? Please?

Of course I’m not being serious, but he’s really A LOT today!

Come on 4pm. I’m already done for the day lol

No exciting plans tonight. Been too cold to go out. Just hassle the fluff goblin and maybe get pizza.

Was just saying to a colleague that although it’s been a short week it feels like it’s been 17 days long.

So apparently last night I screamed in my sleep. I didn’t know that I did, until I got a call from my dad saying that he couldn’t sleep and had to drive into regional Vic at 5am. Maybe it’s stress and anxiety, maybe the coffee I had in the morning, but I feel so guilty for waking everyone up when I didn’t know what was happening.

yo, just in case you weren’t aware that was an arsehole response from your father.

You hear a family member scream in the middle of the night you tend to go kicking in doors and if they sleepin’, you disrupt that bad dream stat

I’m tempted to start another account just so I can upvote this a second time.

I had to read the comment a few times before I could understand it, because a father hearing his daughter screaming in the night and not running in straight away to find out what is wrong and providing comfort just didn’t make sense to me. Actually berating her for it is just appalling behaviour.

@[email protected] the only question to ask here is WTF is wrong with your father, you have absolutely no reason to feel guilty.

This has happened about five times before, so they know not to run in.

The guilt is because I did something that meant no one could fall back asleep.

I don’t think you should feel guilty about it at all.

It’s something you can’t help and you’re never awake to it and your family already knows about it.

Yo, wtf, you literally had no control over it! Sure it is frustrating for them - I get irrationally triggered by the sounds of snoring - but it is peak asshole behaviour to then make you feel guilty about it. It’s not even like there are known interventions (like with snoring). They should instead be concerned for you and supporting you to get to the root of it (which benefits you AND them). Please don’t feel guilty about this!!! e: as SaneMartigan says, you can be responsible for it but not be guilty. Taking ownership absolutely does mean recognising what things are out of your control and if your family just expects you to magically investigate every avenue and work it out (without even being concerned for you, wtf) that is really cold.

Lol you didn’t do it on purpose, that’s the point. If you stayed up until 3am and screamed then I could see how you’d be to blame. But you were asleep, friend, you can’t control what happens when you’re asleep.

You don’t need to do anything or apologise, I get ya dad is mad but like, you don’t need to berated for this, and you don’t need to shoulder the blame!

Yeah, what you do in your sleep isn’t really your fault. Don’t let this on weigh too heavily on you. Consider therapy, or meditation or sleep health stuff because screaming from sleep is an issue that your responsible for but not at fault for, if that makes sense.

              Thanks :)

I’ll do a meditation tonight and see how that goes. I think the screaming happens at peak stress levels. Will also check in with the GP when I go in next because I do wake up with a blocked nose quite often (probably from stomach sleeping, but could be something else).

so many hugs, there must be something awful on your mind to have you scream in your sleep .

I’m sorry your family responded as they did.

In my view the fact this is the fifth time means it’s even more concerning, not less. Maybe talk to your psych about it.

After the awful news out of India I decided to revisit a happier ending to a crazy situation and watched Sully. Damn near cried a few times just thinking about the goodness of people compared to what we see in the US today. Now I’m off to go watch some Mayday episodes and feel grateful for my life.

E: also, massive boo to Clint Eastwood and his anti government dickhead views for making the NTSB into some kind of villain, I guess it was just the beginning of the Trump years after all. Which is all the more sad to contrast with 2009, when it actually happened… Can’t believe the GFC years feel better than what we have today.

That was tragic what happened in India, the fact by some miracle one person survived is somehow out of this world.

      What’s Mayday by the way?

Ok, quick bedding change when Melbcat briefly got up. Quick cycle rewashing of a forgotten load.

When I get up again I’m going to replace the bin bag, throw out the stuff on the bench and empty the litter boxes.

Went to bed in a thin thermal top, this was a good idea, looking at the cold …

I’ve been taking melatonin these days to counter the lingering effects of the coffee and small amount of stimulant meds I’m back to taking. My dreams are not as clearly remembered as in the past but they seem to involve family a lot more, and combine them in very very weird ways…

Still really behind on writing although I powered through a heap of readings in one area yesterday. Read all that I really need to. Now there’s just one more major area, and one minor area… And then I need to start working on slides and shut. Urgh. Looks like I won’t be working much next week.
